His story
“Medicine was something I inherited before I understood I had a choice.”
Dr. Anup grew up watching his father work as an ENT surgeon. Surgery drew him in early: the precision, the microsurgical detail and the ability of skilled hands to steady a difficult moment.
After MBBS at Bangalore Medical College, he moved to Mumbai for MS training at Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital. Oncology cases routinely crossed the road to Tata Memorial Hospital. A difficult case he carried there as a resident changed the direction of his career.
Head and neck oncosurgery brought together the complexity, responsibility and human connection he was looking for. He secured All India Rank 5 in NEET SS and completed his MCh at Tata Memorial Hospital, later serving as Adhoc Assistant Professor with independent operative responsibilities.
The central lesson stayed simple: a patient never walks into the operating room alone—a family walks in with them. That understanding continues to shape every consultation, operation and follow-up.
