Removing a rare upper-lip cancer while planning for form and healing
Clinical picture
High-grade sebaceous carcinoma involving the left upper lip and premaxilla.
Surgical plan
Wide local excision with removal of the involved ala and premaxilla, together with superficial parotidectomy.
Early milestone
The patient was discharged on post-operative day five.

Advanced laryngeal cancer
A definitive operation for disease extending beyond the voice box
Clinical picture
Glottic carcinoma with thyroid-cartilage erosion and extralaryngeal extension.
Surgical plan
Total laryngectomy with primary closure, following assessment of disease extent and airway needs.

Drains were removed and the patient was discharged on post-operative day seven.
