Treatment is individual
The tumour location and stage, general health, airway and existing voice and swallowing function all influence the treatment plan. Surgery may range from a focused endoscopic procedure to partial or total removal of the larynx.
Function belongs in the first conversation
Voice, swallowing and breathing outcomes should be discussed before treatment. In some situations, organ-preserving approaches may be considered; in others, surgery offers the best route to disease control.
Rehabilitation is active care
Speech and swallowing professionals may assess function, teach exercises and help patients adapt after treatment. The exact pathway depends on the procedure and the person's recovery.
